When libraries are… FACILITATORS
This is your library as FACILITATOR. Librarians combine organisational expertise with community engagement. They plan and manage events, workshops, and cultural activities, ranging from language cafés and exhibitions to workshops and theme days. Beyond the leadership, financial and human resource skills required to run libraries and manage collections, these activities also require the expertise of an event manager: networking, marketing, communication, and even content creation for social media and podcasts.
By partnering with schools, cultural institutions, and local organisations, librarians foster access to culture and lifelong learning opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, ensuring the library remains a vibrant part of its community.
You’ve watched one of seven video portraits of libraries as trusted community spaces, based on seven key roles of libraries identified in the forthcoming OMC report Strengthening Europe through Public Libraries.
