In Spring 2024, The European Cultural Foundation held the How a Library Changed My Life writing competition. Almost 300 submissions from 47 countries were received and reviewed through a rigorous process by an independent panel from the European Review of Books and members of The Europe Challenge team. Six winners were selected: Abdallah Alghoul (Palestine/Greece), Camilla Macpherson (Netherlands/UK), Sheryl Man Wai Sze (Hong Kong/UK), Luis Eduardo Torres Sánchez (Mexico/Greece), Svitlana Rykychynska (Ukraine/UK), and Louise Scollay (Scotland).
